Travelogue: Melbourne - Day 4
Day 4 in Melbourne marked the last bit of Cara's agony (not the end yet) because it was the submission deadline of her last essay assignment which also meant that she could finally take a good one-day break to bring me around, yay! Although it's nice to be discovering things & places on your own, a companion in a foreign land is still always most welcomed. (:
Cara's school is really old-school and I call it 'The Harry Potter School'. Wow, I don't mind going to school every single day if this was my school!
Happy & Carefree!
My first (hazelnut nutella) churros & as you can see, I fell deeply in love with it...
They've got many other yummy flavours as well, I loved Cara's Creme Brulee Churros too!
On our way to South Wharf DFO... The wind was really crazy. No joke.
Happily heading back home with great awesome deals! I honestly think South Wharf DFO is the only place with reasonable price tags. I've seen shops with "SALE! ONLY 100 AUD" and I was like: "What?! How's that considered a sale? Gosh." And guess what? I got myself two pretty floral sundresses at only 10 aud each! Yay ;)
Grabbed a cuppa Starbucks to keep myself warm... Brr, the weather was too much for me to handle!
Fooling around with the beautiful headpieces in the departmental store cos we're such Melbourne Cup Ladies (wannabe). Oh yeah, cheap thrills.
Headed back home slightly earlier than usual to whip up some pasta salad for a super-advanced Christmas Potluck Party with Cara's Singapore Uni-mates! Looks good huh?
We actually tried our best to look like twins... But yes, pretty failed I know. Whatever it is, since we've put in quite some effort to dress up, we just had to do what girls always do best - Camwhore! :P
There was quite a heavy downpour that evening...
And yes, that's us being Asians with our $2 ponchos. LOL.
Sadly, no pictures were taken at the house party with Cara's friendly Unimates...
Till then, xx!

Travelogue: Melbourne - Day 3
Just like everyone else, I did my research on where are the must-visit locations in Melbourne and the Queen Victoria Market that was just a 5-minutes walk away from the apartment was one of them. Yay, how convenient! I was actually pretty excited and curious to experience how 'Melbourne Chatuchak' (as quoted from Cara) gonna be like!
Spotted this cute doughnuts school bus from afar and just like a little girl, I was really, REALLY excited! Heh, to think I'm already gonna hit the big two-one this year. Oh no. I must say, this piping hot humble-looking doughnut filled with strawberry jam is really worth every calorie!
That's my Mama Foong doing some Grocery shopping <3
(Please don't forget to buy some fresh, crunchy & cheap apples home!)
And as usual, I was busy goofing around in the market...
Yes, the market sells really cheap wine too! Talking about wine.... Australia sells cheap wine, cheap beer, cheap vodka, cheap orange juice, cheap apple juice, cheap coffee, cheap milk, cheap slurpee... Maybe they're not really that cheap but they're still considered cheap because the water is really !@#$%^&* EXPENSIVE!!! Urgh. End of rant.
This is how my favourite Press-A-Penny machine looks like!
Dropped by Muleta's (422 Queen Street) en route home. As seen, Muleta's pancakes are voted the best in Melbourne! Cara thought their waffles were even better than the pancakes so yeap, we had that for brunch instead and I loved it! That morning was definitely a very productive one for us; Cara working on the last bit of her essay assignment while I was doing some research for our next stop - Gold Coast ;)
And the huge bubblegum-flavoured macaron, nomz!
After every purchase, we'll do some accounts to keep track of how much we've spent for the day. Then, I realized that I actually don't have enough money to spend in Melbourne!!! (Cos I've got to put aside money for Gold Coast) You've no idea how upset I was... I was whining for one good hour till I decided that I should just stop whining and start making my day a better one!
You've no idea how happy I was with my little backpack, my hoodie, my camera, my iPod & my travel diary. I felt really carefree when I was roaming around the streets of Melbourne, laying on the grass & watching the world pass me by... Then I realized, you don't always need money to make you happy cos such happiness is truly priceless.
"The happiest people don't have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything."
That day, I finally understood the meaning of this quote. (:
A salted caramel crepe for me after walking the whole day!
Met up with Cara in the evening for some chocolates/desserts @ Koko Black which I thought it was a little over-rated, oh wells. In our opinion, Australia is definitely the wrong place to enjoy desserts. Nevertheless, it was still a very good day for me and probably even one of the happiest days of my life!
Till then, xx!
I'm no angel, I'm just me
But I will love you endlessly.
