Hello my friends, today I'm gonna share with you something really important to me. Something about education.
So last week, I visited this pretty new and really cool school in town (yes, it is located right smack in the middle of town) known as M2 Academy as you might have seen on my Instagram: @linlovesall. I've been wanting to share with you about this ever since then so here you go! ;)
I don't know about you but since I was 15/16 when I first started hanging out in town, I've always wondered: "How awesome would it be if my school was in town?" And I guess that was one of the reasons why I really wanted to enter SMU after college but well, having said that, I'm still glad that I ended up in SIM - University at Buffalo.
However, to be honest with you, if M2 Academy was set up three years ago - right after I've graduated from college, I would have definitely considered University of South Australia at M2 Academy as one of my top few choices. I've given some thoughts about it and here are my top three reasons why:
1. Centralized Location
If there's one thing I hate about school, it will be the amount of time I have to waste traveling to school every single day. Don't you agree with me that the amount of time spent on traveling could be used more productively? That's why I really love that M2 Academy is located at Orchard Gateway @ Emerald because it is only a 10-15 minutes bus/train ride from my house!
Okay wait, before you think that this is a biased opinion of mine...
Have you ever tried taking a bus from the Clementi bus stop yet you couldn't hop onto any of the buses until the arrival of the FOURTH bus because the bus stop was so frigging congested!?
Yes, I am talking about myself because that happened on my very first day of school. I was supposed to be early for my first lesson in Uni but in the end, I was late = demerit points. How frustrating, isn't it? Pfft. Ahhh wells, I'm pretty sure I'm not alone.
Apart from the fact that you've got no more excuses to be late for school anymore, don't you love that it's also gonna be so much easier to make breakfast/lunch/high-tea/dinner plans with your friends now?
2. Conducive Environment
Just so you know, I never believed in schools conducting lectures in a huge auditorium and let me tell you why. Here's a question, don't you agree that it's pretty awkward to raise up your hand in front of 300 students if you do not understand a question? Especially if you thought that the concept is actually pretty simple and you're just so afraid or shy of making a fool out of yourself. But wait, have you ever wondered that perhaps it's not that simple after all but everyone around me just pretended to understand too.
I'm sure you've been through a situation like this before.
However, in M2 Academy, I like that they have implemented the flipped classroom approach which is different from the usual lecture and tutorial style of learning. It is a form of blended learning in which students learn new content online by watching video lectures and assigned homework is now done in class with teachers offering more personalized guidance and interaction with students, instead of lecturing. (Yay, no more homework!) This will encourage students to learn by doing and asking questions. Students can also help each other, a process that benefits both the advanced and less advanced learners.
In my honest opinion, from the moment I entered the classroom, I knew this will be such a conducive environment for the students who will be studying in M2 Academy. They were neither too big nor too small, simply the ideal classroom size with about 6 tables with a computer attached to every table. This would also mean that the professor-to-students ratio will only be about 1:36 (maximum). And I cannot emphasize how important this is.
Firstly, it is so much easier to pop a question anytime during the lesson to clarify your doubt with the professor. Secondly, with a computer attached to every table, it is so much more convenient to look up for more information online. Lastly, I always believe in team work and I like that the tables are designed in a manner that it's so much easier for interaction, discussion and etc.
3. Industry Relevant Education
We've spoken to the CEO and the team managing M2 Academy and I was so envious when I learnt that their students can gain access to relevant industry knowledge and valuable career opportunities through M2 Academy's partnerships with global multinationals across the different industries. (Such as Bloomberg, Grand Hyatt Singapore, Robeco etc. How awesome is that!!)
Some key highlights include:
- Industry-led, up-to-date curriculum, taught by world class lecturers.
Almost 70% of the professors hold doctorates and most have working experience in their respective fields.
- Corporate case studies, workshops and projects with opportunities to assist with industry-based projects or work alongside professionals from relevant industries.
And I guess this will give you a realistic job preview which is very important.
- Networking events
I have always believed that, through interaction with the professionals of the industries, you'll be able gain first-hand information as compared to just reading from a book/magazine.
- Career mentoring
(I will be graduating in 1.5 years and how I wish I've got someone to guide me too.)
- Partnership with specialist recruitrs and Industry Associations & Memberships
With strong industry partnerships and a robust curriculum that is focused on developing relevant real-world skill sets, M2 Academy strongly believes that their graduates will be highly employable and ready to succeed in the corporate environment.
I hope this piece of information is helpful to you.
Before I end off this post, here's some good news for my readers!
If you're keen to join M2 Academy, you can go down to M2 campus and mention my name: 'Yilin Goh' and you'll be entitled to a 3 months Spotify Premium account worth $30. While stocks last.

In a blink of an eye, yet another month has passed... I didn't even realize it until I saw the calendar and realized our monthsary is in less than 3 days' time, wow. To be honest, the both of us actually clean forgotten about it and even wanted our #metime to exercise - Gym for him and Yoga for me. Hahaha ooops. I guess, time really flies when you're feeling happy every single day. I am so blessed. <3
Last Monthsary, if you've seen my instagram: @linlovesall, you'd have known that I baked my very first blueberry crumb bars for my love cos blueberries are his ultimate favourite! (Recipe from Smittenkitchen kindly recommended by Winifred!) Honestly, this wouldn't be a success without my dearest bb who kindly drove me to Phoon Huat to buy my ingredients, lend me her kitchen at the very last minute after full day of filming (that explains my tired face), encouraged and comforted me (sooo much love for this girl) when I thought my crumble was gonna fail on me.
AND YES, I DID IT!!!
Everyone's so proud of me. I'm proud of myself too, hee.
Woke up the next morning and I was all ready to surprise my boy!
Cos handwritten card never gets too old.
(So that's just a few of the many pictures we took in SIM Popular, heh.)
So guess what? M requested a slab of butter to be delivered to his house and I was so scared that he was actually baking for me desserts early in the morning. When I reached his house and he had no choice but to reveal what he was up to, I was like: "Phew. Thank Goodness." (but not for too long thou, lol)
As usual, just bumming and fooling around. Heh.
After all the hard work of whisking and heating to get the Hollandaise Sauce right.....
HERE COMES THE BEST EGG BENEDICT IN THE WORLD!!!!!!
I swear I'm not being biased at all because it really tasted as good as it looks! But ladies, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to know how or what the hollandaise sauce is made of. Your friends weren't joking when they told you that egg benedict is super sinful and fattening! But wells, some indulgence once in awhile especially when it's made with love is not too bad yes? *living in self-denial*
So after we enjoyed our brunch, he told me to sit down so that he could get something from the fridge and I was like: 'Shizzzzz, no way.' I had a strong gut feeling that he made desserts forr me too and yeap, I was right. We ended up exchanging our desserts for each other and that's his homemade Tiramisu for me in my new
Well, I always believe that a little effort goes a long way in a relationship. :)
You know, it's really not about having extravagant meals or showering each other with expensive gifts but just spending quality time with M is enough for me. And I'm really thankful to have someone who makes the extra effort just to make me smile and feel a little more special than usual on the 25th of every month, teeheehee.
Till then, xx!
Kranji Countryside Adventure
I love spending quality time with my loved ones, especially with my family. Sadly, my family never had that Sunday-is-a-family-day kinda culture but wells, I'm glad M's family does and I really do enjoy it whenever we go out together. Even if it's just heading to Airport's Kopitiam to have dinner on a Friday evening. Like what M said when he granted my request to stroll around the airport at 1am (yes, all shops were closed already), "Thank God my parents like to zhor bor (do nothing) so this is pretty normal to me." Uh-huh, now you know why I love filial boys ;)
So a few weeks ago, we decided to head down to Kranji for a double-date kampung adventure and I must say, it was a really nice one-day getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city life. Simplicity at its best while getting in touch with beautiful nature once again! So here you go with more visuals:
First Stop: Bollywood Veggies
Most of the time, M and I actually weren't paying attention to the tourguide at all (which we paid for $2/pax for the tour in their mini farm) cos we're too easily distracted, heh. But I'm pretty sure M's parents enjoyed the tour as it was really enlightening when the guide started pointing out some of the ingredients used in the kitchen and our everyday food.
And guess what got me excited nearing the end of the tour? A netball pole!! Ahhhh, I was so happy! Challenged M for a game and it definitely brought back so much fond memories as a netball player during my growing up years in a IJ school. And needless to say, I was definitely a better shooter than M, hiak hiak ;)
To be honest, I really thought I was gonna be a legit farmer for a morning by cutting some plants during the tour to prep the ingredients for my brunch but nope, nothing like that at all. Such a great idea, don't you agree? Nonetheless, we had brunch at their bistro, Poison Ivy which was kinda pricey. But wells, support local farmers & communities! <3
100 Neo Tiew Road
Second Stop: Qian Hu Fish Farm
Dropped by the fish farm with the intention of admiring those fish in the tanks until we chanced upon the longkang ("canal") and saw all the kids trying to catch some fish with their parents, we were like.... "Hmmm, should we?" Cos honestly, it was quite embarrassing since we're the only two grown-ups. But heck, we decided to go ahead with it anyways to relive our childhood (okay no, I don't remember fishing at any longkangs before lol) and I'm glad we did cos we had so much fun!!
But... I really gotta admit I'm getting old. Look at the amount of fish the pair of siblings caught as compared to ours... Haha oh my, this is so embarrassing. Halfway through, I was actually feeling quite "sad" cos I really couldn't catch any at all (I shall blame it on my dress) until that little boy came up to me and offered to give me some of his fish in his tank!! So sweet right? I was so touched. <3
Fyi, we paid $6/pax for 30mins of longkang fishing and as shown above, you can catch as many as you want and bring them home with you! It comes along with a free tank too but you gotta buy the pellet fish food for your new pet fish. (:
71 Jalan Lekar
Last Stop: Farmart Centre
I wouldn't recommend this stop to anyone because there's really nothing much at all except looking at dogs, birds and more birds. Those birds are really beautiful thou. For a moment, I thought I was at Jurong Bird Park except that it was free-of-charge, teeheehee. And the best thing is you get to touch them and don't worry, they won't hurt you. :)
So, this marks the end of my one-day Kranji Countryside Adventure!
Hope you enjoyed reading this post.
Have a happy weekend xx
I'm no angel, I'm just me
But I will love you endlessly.
